Get to Know Us
We are thrilled to introduce our newly established non-profit organization, the Cambodian Cultural Centre. Our mission is to promote the rich heritage of Khmer culture, arts, music, and cuisine through a variety of engaging events. We believe in the importance of education and are dedicated to providing opportunities for learning the Khmer language and understanding our history. Through our initiatives, we aim to foster a deeper appreciation for Khmer culture while making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.

Sopheaktra (Peter) Heang
Peter Heang founded the Cambodian Cultural Centre with a determination to preserve and promote Cambodian heritage and culture. A son of refugees impacted by the genocide, Peter is committed to making a meaningful difference in Cambodian society by advocating for peace, love, joy, and unity. As
the founder of Heart Company with a solid background in accounting and finance, Peter has combined his analytical skills with a deep passion for creativity and community engagement.
Director of Media & Community Manager
Vanny Whitchelo
Vanny Whitchelo is a first generation Cambodian Canadian whose parents endured the Khmer Rouge regime. Drawing from her knack for storytelling, she started the Khmer Voices podcast in 2024 to amplify the underrepresented voices of Cambodian
diaspora worldwide, and ensure their stories are heard. The shared stories have contributed to collective healing and the podcast has become a top Khmer podcast outside Cambodia.
Director of Resource Development
Teang Berg
Teang Berg serves as the Director of Resource Development at the Cambodian Cultural Center. In this role, she leads the Center’s efforts to secure funding, cultivate partnerships, and expand programs that strengthen Cambodian culture and community life in Canada. Teang specializes in grant writing and strategic resource development, helping the Center sustain and grow initiatives that preserve heritage and empower future generations.
