Learn Khmer: 12-Week Introductory Course
Presented by the Cambodian Cultural Centre
Discover the beauty and richness of the Khmer language in our 12-week Learn Khmer program, designed for beginners and language enthusiasts alike. Whether you're looking to connect with your heritage, prepare for travel, or simply explore a new language, this course offers the perfect starting point.
Led by Sophan Seng, founder of KEEN Languages Interpreter, this engaging course draws on over a decade of professional experience in language interpretation. Sophan is a fluent Khmer speaker with a Master's degree in Social Science and an extensive background interpreting for courts, government agencies, healthcare providers, and NGOs across Canada.

This in-person course will cover basic vocabulary, sentence structure, pronunciation, and everyday conversation skills, providing you with a strong foundation in reading, writing, and speaking Khmer.

Children's Khmer Classes (Level 1 - Beginner)
Ages: 5-12
Curriculum

Learn basic conversational Khmer (everyday greetings, simple sentences)

Fun, game-based lessons to keep children engaged

Activities includes storytelling, and role-play

Learn colors, body parts, and Khmer consonants

Focus on listening, speaking, and pronunciation

Culturally enriched — children learn through art, dance, and traditional stories

Encourages confidence and connection to heritage while having fun

Learn Khmer consonants, vowels, and alphabet structure

Practice combining letters to form words

Develop basic conversational skills (introductions, common expressions)

Learn to write your name in Khmer

Practice everyday greetings and simple sentences

Focus on pronunciation, reading, and writing

Lessons will adapt and expand based on class progress and interests
Adult Khmer Classes (Level 1 - Beginner)
Level 2 (Intermediate) Khmer Classes
For students who have already completed our Level 1 Introductory class - build on your knowledge and continue to deepen your understanding of the Khmer language in this intermediate class!
With classes for adults and kids, this class will expand on the skills introduced at Level 1, focusing on reading, writing and conversation.
